Make or buy a growth poster.
Along the unruled edge, paste pictures of food or have the children draw pictures of foods. Talk about how important food is to growth.
Show them how their height increases with age.
Trace each child’s body shape on a large piece of paper. Cut out the shape and color it to look like the child. Cut out pictures of food from magazines. Paste the pictures on the body cutout.
Talk about how food helps the body grow. Ask the children if their bodies are the same size and shape.
Compare the cutout to your body size. Explain that bodies grow in different shapes, and sizes, and at different rates. Ask parents to bring in a baby picture of each child. Discuss how the children have grown.
