Groundhog Burrow Craft

Supplies Needed; Printout of Groundhog Template (below), white paper cup, green paint, crayons, green construction paper, popsicle stick, scissors and glue.

Directions; Paint cup green, and set aside to dry. Cut out groundhog template, and color any desired color. Cut a strip of green construction paper about 1" in width and cut 1/2" dashes into it, to create the grass. Glue your groundhog to the top of your popsicle stick and allow to dry. Once your cup is dry, turn it upside down and cut a short line in the bottom of the cup, just wide enough for the popsicle stick to fit through. Glue the grass to the edge of the cup, and insert the groundhog stick.

Supplies:

Brown paper lunch bag
Copy of groundhog main parts on brown construction paper
Or copy onto white paper and have child color parts brown
Scraps of black, brown and white paper
Scissors
Glue

Directions: Cut out main groundhog parts and glue in to place onto brown bag. Cut out ears from scrap of brown paper, eyes, nose and whiskers from black paper, and teeth from white paper. Add parts and glue down to complete puppet.

Groundhog (paper bag) Puppet

Supplies Needed; Brown, black and white construction paper, wiggly eyes, a brown paper bag, a black pen, scissors and glue.

Directions; Using your brown construction paper cut a large heart shape and two ear shapes. Using the black construction paper, cut a medium heart shape. Using the white construction paper, cut a small heart shape. Your pieces should look like the ones below.

Construct your Groundhogs face by gluing the ear shapes to the top of the head (which is the bottom of the heart shape), black heart shape (upside down) to the center, then glue the white heart shape (upside down)behind the crux of the heart, to look like teeth. Finally, glue on the wiggly eyes and draw on whiskers.

Finally, Glue hear to bottom of your paper bag and allow to dry.
