Read: “Groundhog Day” by Michelle Aki Becker Groundhog Burrow CraftSupplies Needed; Printout of Groundhog Template (below), white paper cup, green paint, crayons, green construction paper, popsicle stick, scissors and glue.
Directions; Paint cup green, and set aside to dry. Cut out groundhog template, and color any desired color. Cut a strip of green construction paper about 1" in width and cut 1/2" dashes into it, to create the grass. Glue your groundhog to the top of your popsicle stick and allow to dry. Once your cup is dry, turn it upside down and cut a short line in the bottom of the cup, just wide enough for the popsicle stick to fit through. Glue the grass to the edge of the cup, and insert the groundhog stick.
You will need:
Paper plate Brown paint Brown card Black card White card Elastic Instructions: Paint the plate brown and leave to dry. Carefully cut out two eye holes. Cut two circles of brown card, glue to the back of the face as the ears. Cut a black nose and two white teeth, glue these to the front of the mask. Make a small hole each side and thread through the elastic. To make this craft you will need:
Paint your child's foot brown and have him stamp it on the paper. After you groundhog has dried, allow the children to color in grass using crayons. Now you see the groundhog in the grass. Once the paint has dried, use a permanent marker to fill in the face and body lines. |
