Children love to tell stories, of things they have done or would like to do. Set up a beach story table and see what an imagination can do! Read: “To the Beach!” by Linda Ashman, Nadine Bernard Westcott. Kate, her parents, siblings and Fido the dog are off to the beach. But every time they head to the beach they find they have forgotten something! Will they ever get to the beach? Game: Find pictures or items of everything the family forgets to pack, cut them out and back with felt or double back tape. As you read the story and the family has to return home sing the song and place the item up on the felt board.

When I want to go –o Back to the sea I must wait ‘Til the tide comes for me! ~ by Jean Warren Beach Shape Musical Chairs Arrange the chairs in a circle. If you have younger children it is best to have too many chairs. This can be a game where everyone wins. Place different beach shapes on each chair. Have the children walk around the chairs until the music stops. Then everyone finds a chair. Ask who is sitting on a chair with a ____? Musical Beach Shapes Cut out large beach shapes from colored paper. Laminate them and cut them out. Place them on the floor. It is best for younger children to have more shapes than children. Play music and have the children walk around the room. When the music stops each child needs to find a shape to stand on You put some shells in You take some shells out. You put some shells in. And you place them all about. You make a sand castle With shells all around. That's what it's all about! ~ by Jean Warren
