First cut out six pronged star shapes, like the ones pictured. They should vary in size. Cut the tips to be points, then curl the tips.
Finally, String them from largest to smallest on a pipe cleaner. You may need to twist a small knot in the pipe cleaner in between each piece. Have the children collect leaves while they are outside. After they come back in have them arrange the leaves in order according to size. Have the describe the different types of leaves. Some leaves have lots of little teeth, others are lobed, and some have smooth edges. Ask the children how many of each kind do they have?
