  • Pictures of fruit and vegetables
  • Paper templates with a section for fruit and a section for vegetables

Directions:
Talk with the children about what they would like to grow if they had a garden and if they are a fruit or a vegetable. Encourage the children to place fruit in the fruits section and vegetables in the vegetable section.

Flower and Picket fence craft

Supplies Needed; 7 Popsicle sticks, 4 golf tees, white paint and a paint brush, red tissue paper, and glue.


Directions;
Place 5 Popsicle sticks equidistant from each other and glue two  more Popsicle sticks across to create the slats of the picket fence. Allow to dry then paint white. Next tear the red tissue into small balls and glue it to the top of the golf tees. Once dry, glue the golf tees to the fence.

Planting Seeds

Supplies:
  • container: cardboard egg carton, paper cup, yogurt container, etc
  • soil
  • seeds
  • water

Directions: If using a plastic container or paper cup put a hole in the bottom of the the container. Place soil into containers. Water soil until moist.  Make a small hole in the soil and place a seed in the hole. Cover the hole with soil. Mist with water as needed to keep soil moist. Transplant seedlings when their first leaves appear (approximately 2 weeks).

Carrot

  • Construction paper: white and green
  • Orange tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Small dish
  • Water
  • paint brush

Directions: Thin out glue with a small amount of water in the small dish. Trace a hand onto the green paper and cut out. Cut out a carrot shape from the white paper. Glue the hand to the top of the carrot shape. Paint the white part of the carrot with glue and stick pieces of orange constructions onto the glue.

Footprint carrot

Directions:
On the bottom of foot paint toes and upper part of foot green and the rest of the foot orange. Press foot onto paper and gently pull foot off the paper. Clean foot off with wet cloth or wipes. Let carrot dry and use an orange marker to add details to carrot.

  • Construction paper, cardstock, or paint paper
  • Green and orange paint
  • Paint brush
  • Orange marker (optional)
  • Wet cloth or wet wipes

Directions:
Dip forks into paint and stamp onto paper to create grass and tulip shaped flowers. Use a paintbrush to add flower stems.
