This was a fun and easy way to assist children in basic three letter spelling. Present the children with the template (below) and some Cheez-It "scrabble junior" crackers. Then assist them in creating words using the crackers. We have left space at the bottom of the template for children to write a list of their words, if desired.
Have the children decorate a letter with things that start with the same letter. Talk about the letter and the things they are decorating it with. "B is for Buttons" saying the letter sounds as well. This will help them associate the sounds with the letter.
Have Children practice their letters and numbers by making them in a container filled with a thin layer of salt.
