This was a fun and easy way to assist children in basic three letter spelling. Present the children with the template (below) and some Cheez-It "scrabble junior" crackers. Then assist them in creating words using the crackers. We have left space at the bottom of the template for children to write a list of their words, if desired.

Talk about the letter and the things they are decorating it with. "B is for Buttons" saying the letter sounds as well. This will help them associate the sounds with the letter.

Line the inside of a small box with blue paper for the water. Make fish cut outs using colored construction paper. Write letters and/or numbers on your fish then attach paper clips to them. Glue a magnet to the end of a piece of string; then tie it to a stick. Children "fish" then read the letter or number that is on it.

Make Bingo boards either on the computer or by hand with different letters of the alphabet on them. Make cut outs of all the letters that are on your Bingo boards and put them in a sandwich bag for you to draw from. Use noodles, beads, or any small objects as Bingo chips to mark when a letter is called. You play just like regular Bingo except instead of calling numbers, you call letters.
